The Mexican Navy rescued two fishermen who had spent five days adrift in the Pacific Ocean inside a large refrigerated box, locating them roughly 240 kilometres off the coast of Chiapas.

Navy ships and aircraft conducted the search, then airlifted both survivors by helicopter to Puerto Chiapas. The men were aged 53 and 35 at the time of their rescue.

The read here is that the cooler box almost certainly kept the two men above water long enough for rescuers to reach them - though the record does not say when they entered the water, where they set out from, or what put them adrift. Those details, if they emerge, would complete a picture that for now stops at the moment of recovery.
